Hello Sir/Madam, We have bought a plot in March 2022. Previous owner had a approved building plan for the plot valid till December 2022. We constructed the house using the same plan. Can we pay the property tax for the house using the same plan approval? or Do we need to get the new plan approval under my name for applying tax property in village panchayat?

Hi Anbarasan,

Yes, you can pay the property tax using the same plan approval. But I suggest you update our name on plan approval. Because every time a property changes hands, the new owner is required to have the name on the property tax updated. If the government authority is not informed of the sale of the property, the former owner will be lawfully required to pay the taxes.
