I had the same query, so I asked the builder to suggest to me where we should construct the water tank. They construct several Vastu compliant houses, so they do have better ideas. We were suggested to construct the water tank in the
Southwest or
West corner of the house so I will suggest you go for the south-west direction to instal your water tank there
