During our AC installation, the electrician suggested that the ideal amp switch required for 1.5 ton AC is 10 amp. This is because, in general, a 1.5 ton split AC draws around 6 to 8 amps of current during normal operation. However, it is better to be on the safer side and use an MCB with a higher ampere rating than the maximum current that an AC draws.
But I will suggest you consult with an electrician before taking any final decision.
