Summary
You do not need to fully empty your fuel tank before transporting a car to another state. Keep about one-fourth tank so the car can move during loading and unloading. Too much fuel is unsafe, and an empty tank can cause handling issues. You must choose a reliable transport company, compare services, check reviews to choose a trusted vehicle shifting company.

You should not keep your fuel tank fully empty when you transport car from one state to another. It is better to keep only a small amount of fuel, about one-fourth of a tank, so the car can move during loading and unloading. Too much fuel is not safe, and an empty tank can also cause problems during handling.

How to Transport My Car Intercity?

Here is the process you can follow

  1. To transport your car safely, first choose a good transport company. Call two or three reliable movers and check what type of service they offer.

  2. See if they provide open or enclosed carriers, tracking, loading help, and insurance. Compare their prices and read customer reviews. After that, select the company that feels safe and budget-friendly for your move.

  3. Keep all your documents ready before the move. Carry your RC, insurance papers, ID proof, and NOC if the new state asks for it.

  4. If you choose train transport, check the railway parcel rules, booking dates, and forms a few days earlier.

  5. Prepare your car properly for transport. Clean the inside and outside and take clear photos of the car from all angles.

  6. Remove all personal items, gadgets, and loose accessories. Keep only a little fuel in the tank. Check the tyres, battery, engine oil, and brakes so the car stays in good condition during travel.

  7. When the team arrives, be present during the pick-up. Check the inspection report, transport agreement, and insurance details before you sign anything.

  8. After the car starts moving, use the tracking link or app to follow the shipment.

  9. When the car reaches your new location, check it again and compare it with the photos you took earlier.

If you plan to stay in the new state for a long time, complete the re-registration process at the RTO within twelve months and pay the required road tax. Hope this helps you.
