When I told my interior designer I wanted to decorate my wall in a modern style, he suggested MDF material. I had never heard of it before. So I asked, can you use MDF for wall paneling? He said, yes, I have even done MDF wall paneling in my house. It looks stylish and works well in the hall and bedroom.

Can You Use MDF Paneling in a Bathroom?

  1. MDF takes in water like a sponge, so it’s not good for wet places like the bathroom.

  2. If water touches it or the weather keeps changing, it can bubble up and even break.

  3. He told me MDF is not as strong as plywood and can get small dents or damage easily.

  4. According to him, screws don’t stay tight in MDF for long.

  5. One more thing he told me is that MDF has some chemicals like formaldehyde, which are not safe for wet areas.

So, he advised me to avoid MDF in the bathroom, but it's fine for the hall or bedroom.
