I had my kitchen sink installed a bit far from the gas stove which did hinder my activities. I am a cleanliness freak so I needed to wash my hands after almost every task. So just after some months we shifted into our new house, I asked my husband can you move a sink in a kitchen and he said yes it is possible. Everything is possible but there are some things that need to be focused upon. If you are planning to move your kitchen sink, this answer is going to help you.

What things to be focused upon before moving the kitchen sink?

My husband said that he will need to call a plumber to get the pipeline set up for the drain since moving kitchen sink a bit far isn't easy. Some things that must be check beforehand are:

  • Drainage system should be planned out for the sink

  • Working around joints and structural beams will be required

  • It is better to keep it close to the kitchen so make space for it

How to move a sink?

Now you can easily move a sink anywhere within a short distance just by adding on or cutting back the drain and vent and using long pipes to make it happen but if you want to move it a bit far, things will get difficult. You will need more pipes, make channels for the easy flow of water, hook up the pipes if needed, keep the pipeline invisible so that it might not hamper the look and so on. Many people ask how to move a kitchen sink to an island so personally I will suggest you to ppt for an expert plumber. In an island kitchen, things remain minimal in most cases and if the pipes of the sink remain visible, it will hamper the overall look of the kitchen and I am sure you won’t want that. Here you will need to install the sink newly so yes, it is not an easy task.

This is what I got as an answer when I asked my husband:
