But this time, I planned to place Bappa in the south corner of my living room. But I too had this question in mind: can we keep Ganesh idol facing south? Can We Place Ganesha Facing South?
No! You should not place your Ganesh idol facing south because:
Yama and Agni dominate the South and Southeast directions, which makes them unlucky for placing idols.
It is also considered inauspicious to place them under staircases, and near toilets or drains.
As per Vastu Shastra, the best spot is to place the idol at the northeast (Ishaan) corner, facing either east or west. This ensures the graceful presence of Lord Ganesha at home.
