I first wanted to bring a big Ganesha idol for my home. It was out of respect and devotion to feel a stronger spiritual connection. I thought my house will become a true place of worship by keeping grand and big idols but I have always wondered, "Can we keep big god idols at home?” Finally, after consulting a Vastu expert, I learned that faith is not measured by the size of the God’s idol.
The facts that I was suggested by him are as follows:
He said that larger idols are best placed in temples and are not for smaller homes as they need a dedicated space and they are to be kept far from materialistic things.
The big idols carry more divine power, but the offerings that is provided at home will not be enough.
According to Vastu-Shastra, you should not bring idols that are more than nine inches in height. It’s advised to bring idols of God with blessed posture and avoid photos of God in anger to bring positivity in your house.
In many traditions and scriptures it is recommended to not keep large idols of God as it might bring negative energy in the house.
As per his advice, I finally got a medium sized Ganesha for my home. I hope this information helps you understand whether can we keep big god idols at home.
