Hello. I saw you asking whether can I use kerosene as a paint thinner or not. The answer is yes, you can use kerosene as a paint thinner. However, you cannot use this for some types of paints like acrylics and latex ones. This is because kerosene doesn’t let the paint adhere to the substrate. Kerosene has been in use for thinning synthetic oil paints, giving them the highest point of shine and spreadability. Let me tell you more about kerosene below.

How is Kerosene as Paint Thinner?

Kerosene is quite different from other solvents. This is because it dries slower compared to other solvents. Due to this property of kerosene, it is used for painting letters in the sign industry. Kerosene is thus added to enamels and other oil paints at the time of painting or pinstriping during hot weather conditions.

When you are adding kerosene to paint, make sure to add not more than one teaspoon to about 4 litres of paint. If you add more than a teaspoon, it can take a long time for the kerosene to evaporate and increase the paint drying time.

This is all from my side about whether can kerosene be used as paint thinner. I hope you find the information helpful.
