I planned to install two air conditioners in two separate rooms during my mother's house renovation. When the professional came to wire up a new circuit, specifically for ACs, I asked can two air conditioners on one circuit work. He said no. Although it is possible to run two air conditioners on a single circuit breaker, it's not advised and can be dangerous.
Can You Run Two Air Conditioners on One Circuit?
It is not recommended to run 2 ACs on one circuit.
Overloaded circuits may overheat and catch fire.
Compressors may have trouble turning on when two air conditioners are on one circuit. Both may have running fans, but if both are operating simultaneously, the circuit may not be able to support the load required to activate the compressor on one unit.
Unless the house has no grounds, regular single outlets are OK. After that, a GFCI would be used by the electrician.
For air conditioners to operate safely and
reliably, local electrical codes typically requirededicated circuits.

What is a circuit breaker?A circuit breaker is a switch that aims to protect electrical circuits from any damage that can be caused by overcurrent, overload, or even a short circuit.
Can you put two air conditioners on one circuit breaker?I was not aware of the breakers or circuits that will be required to instal ACs, but my husband was. He asked the electrician- Can I put 2 air conditioners in 1 circuit breaker or not and that is when I learned the answer. This is something that only an electrician can explain in detail. In our case, we were asked to have a separate circuit for our second AC, but it might not be the same for all. The number of ACs in 1 circuit breaker will depend on
Whether the ACs will overload the circuit or not
What amount of power will the ACs consume
Whether there is a chance of fire hazard in the future and more
You can instal 2 ACs on one breaker, but in the long run, it can be risky. Hence, it is always encouraged that you go for another separate circuit or breaker for your second AC.
So before installing 2 aircon in 1 breaker, seek an electrician’s advice.
