When I moved into my flat in Mumbai, I wanted to become a member of the housing committee. Let me tell you a few rules about becoming a member.
Property owners are known as members of society or association because the property is theirs legally. Tenants who have rented the property on a lease are termed as associate members.
There are broad guidelines, or bye-laws , that all housing societies adopt for their functioning. According to the bylines, tenants can become part or members of subcommittee in housing society as long as the criteria for the same is fulfilled.
