Relationships between landlords and tenants usually require a delicate balance between trust, confidentiality, and legal obligations. One issue that frequently arises in this relationship is: are landlords notified when police are called to a residence they own? Usually landlords are not notified. However, there are situations where they may get notified. I have shared the complete details below.

Will My Landlord Get Notified When Police Are Called?

As I mentioned above, usually, they are not notified when the police are called to their rental property. Unless the landlord is involved in the incident or the police particularly need to get in touch with them for informational or investigative purposes, they won't be automatically informed when police are summoned to a property.

  • Privacy laws and tenant protection regulations prevent direct communication between law enforcement authorities and landlords regarding police interventions.

  • However, if a situation arises where police intervention on a rental property may affect the landlord's interests, such as property damage or illegal activities on the premises, the authorities may contact them to provide relevant information.

I hope you found this information helpful.
