HDHMR performs better than plywood for kitchen shutters, especially in Indian kitchens with high moisture. HDHMR has a higher density (850 kg or more), giving better strength, screw holding, and durability. It is boiling water-proof and does not delaminate easily, making it ideal near sinks and cooking areas. Its smooth, uniform surface gives a better finish and improved pest resistance. Plywood is cost-effective and reliable, but even BWP plywood is less dense and may wear faster over time. For long-term performance, HDHMR is the better choice.
