Although the late Dr Kalam was born in a modest hut where this one-story building is now, it took years for the house to be improved and built so that his family could live comfortably in it. The exhibit now features images documenting the president’s early years and developed into one of the nation’s most esteemed scientists. The museum has also noted Dr Kalam’s contributions to research throughout his formative years and the honours and accolades he received from all across the world.
One of India’s most significant leaders spent his formative years in this modest home on Mosque Street in Rameswaram. He shared a house with his brother, Ashiamma, Jainulabdeen, and his parents. In 2011, APJ Abdul Kalam’s old house was transformed into a museum, and it is now open for public visitation.
Photos of Abdul Kalam’s youth and childhood are displayed throughout the home.
