    Rental income earned by NRIs from property in India is taxable under Section 195 of the Income-tax Act, 1961. Tenants are required to deduct TDS of around 30% before paying rent to an NRI landlord. NRIs can also claim eligible deductions such as municipal taxes paid and a standard deduction on rental income as per applicable tax rules.
