The Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC) is trying to find places for setting up five to six large commercial complexes through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP).<\/span><\/p>\n

Chief Rajendra Bharud of KMC has instructed all four divisional offices to identify strategic locations for constructing the commercial complexes. Instead of funding for project operation entirely on its own, the corporation plans to partner with private developers via a PPP arrangement.<\/span><\/p>\n

Under the model, KMC will provide land and regulatory support, and private developers will assist with funding and project development. While the revenue and operational responsibilities will be shared according to the agreement.<\/span><\/p>\n

The KMC official, requesting anonymity, said, \u201cCitizens oppose the proposals to increase property taxes. Therefore, it is inevitable to find alternatives for increasing our revenue. In such a situation, Bharud has decided to develop the municipal lands for income. A consultant panel will be formed for this project in the next eight to 10 days.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The official added, \u201cFinancial feasibility of the project will be prepared by the architecture department. In this regard, a presentation has been asked to be prepared first, and the project department is working on it at a fast pace.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Further, the city\u2019s Shingoshi Market, Kombdi Bazaar, Chhatrapati Taranrani Market Divisional Office, Central bus stand, Water Park-Bawda, and rickshaw stands in the central bus stand are being considered as priorities.<\/span><\/p>\n

Moreover, Bharud also directed the city engineers for an immediate plan and estimates for the construction of a new administrative building at Shenda Park, as the existing administrative building is inadequate.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Additionally, in recent years, Kolhapur has been witnessing several urban development projects, including new civic infrastructures, road development projects, and city expansion planning. Making the large commercial complexes to boost the city.<\/span><\/p>\n
