Stating that the legal framework should be aligned with changing economic and business requirements.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sources say that reviewing the functioning of the Stamp and Registration Department, CM said, \u201cIn view of the rapidly growing economy, investment activities and urbanization in Uttar Pradesh, the department should become more transparent, technology-based, accountable and citizen-centric.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CM also stressed the need to develop Sub-Register Offices (SRO) in a phased manner on the lines of passport service centres. In the meeting, it was informed that nearly 2.4 Cr people visit the physical office location every year in the state. So, the department is working towards pricing facilities, including desks, help, queue management systems, modern waiting areas, women &amp; child care rooms, and digital services to avoid unnecessary waiting and inconvenience, says the statement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Further, he said, the Stamp and Registration Department is an important pillar of the state\u2019s revenue system. The department\u2019s gross revenue increased from \u20b911,613.84 Cr in 2016-17 to \u20b932,598.49 Cr in 2025-26. During the period of registrations, the number of documents increased from nearly 28 lakh to over 49.34 lakh.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition, he directed the officials to strengthen systems like Aadhaar authentication, biometrics, and iris-based verification, online document verification, and digital scrutiny through land records for property and marriage registrations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Moreover, the legal system is also getting upgraded to meet current economic needs.
