Decorating a rented house can really be tricky. A small mistake and your landlord is going to cut the amount from your deposit! As it is your temporary home, decorating a rental house on a budget helps you save some cash. So here are some home decor hacks for rental apartments that you can use.   

1. Create your Gallery Wall

Believe me or not, this hack about wall decor for apartments will transform your house and add a lot of character to it. Create a wall with all types of items which will be visually appealing. You can decorate the wall by: 1.Hanging different photos with different photo frames and making a collage 2. Making interesting patterns out of Washi tapes 3. Shop for unique wall posters on Flipkart or Amazon. These wall posters are quite inexpensive. You can buy different posters that reflect your personality and create an interesting pattern on the wall. You can also check out Postergully and Madoverprint for interesting prints.  4. DIY your art wall. You can hang your own paintings or a combination of any other artwork on your wall. These houseplants not only transform the entire look of the house but also purify the home atmosphere. 

3. Layer with Curtains & Cushions

Curtains can make your room look either boring or delightful! So buy curtains which suit your interior for the rented house. Try layering your curtains with sheers and solids.  Adding a lot of Cushions to your sofa instantly makes the living room more cosy. You can try interesting patterns and prints on the cushions as well. You can buy fabric of your choice and get the curtains & cushions stitched from a local tailor.   

4. Light up your Rooms

Lights can play wonders in transforming your space as good lighting is like jewellery for your home. A good side table lamp, floor lamp helps to create that ambience and calm the senses.  Candles, lanterns and votives add that extra touch of warmth for special occasions.   There are many online websites which let you rent unique home decor items including floor lamps along with the shades. There are many home decor ideas on Pinterest to get some quirky DIYs like making lamps out of wine bottles and fairy lights and so on.

5. Scent your house

A pleasant and fragrant home is always delightful and welcoming. Here are a few options you can consider: 1. Buy dried scented flowers which come with a small bottle of scent and add two drops over the dried flowers whenever needed! 2. Light scented candles. Scented candles are also used for aromatherapy and help for relaxation. 3. Use incense sticks. Use of incense sticks at dawn and dusk has been practised in Indian homes for a long time. 

6.Buy inexpensive decor items from local craft fairs

Visit local flea markets as they are a treasure trove of beautiful things and you don’t have to spend a bomb. This way you can promote local artisans as well. These things are easy to carry when you move homes. 1. Buy ceramic vases and pots to display flowers and plants. 2. Buy clay wall hangings and lamps.  3.
