Vastu Tips For Position Of Bedroom

Vasthu states that the bedrooms are to be positioned in the western and southern wing of the house. However, this is to be planned only after making sure that appropriate spaces have been allocated, as per the below explained principal.

The best position for your bedroom according to Vastu

The southern wing of the house is called Dhanalayam (for storing valuables) and the western wing is called Dhanyalayam (place for storing food, groceries, etc. which are considered equally as valuables, especially in the olden times). The remaining portions of the western and southern wing as well as the corner rooms are auspicious locations for studies and activities that involve education, professional work, office spaces, etc. As per Vastu, southern and western wings are also good positions for receiving and entertaining guests. Hence drawing rooms are located in the southern or western portion. After allocating the positions for storing valuables, study room and drawing room within the southern and western wings, the remaining portions of these wings are considered auspicious for positioning bedrooms. Thus Vasthu provides a wide range of choices in positioning the above-mentioned spaces in a house and still ensures that the peace and tranquillity of its residents are kept intact.

Is there a ‘wrong’ place to have a bedroom?

Vasthu does not state that bedrooms cannot be positioned in the eastern or northern wing of the house. Hence, on a general note, bedrooms can be positioned in all 4 wings viz., northern, eastern, southern, & western wings of the house. However, it is important to ensure that the Southwest corner of the house is a bedroom (preferably Master Bedroom). Also, it is important to ensure that the internal perimeters of all bedrooms are complying with the auspicious dimensions as per Vasthu principles.

How to position your furniture in the bedroom

The positioning of Furniture inside the bedroom while mentioning about the bedroom positions, it is equally important to follow the vasthu principle on positioning the bed in a bedroom. The bed is to be positioned in such a way that the headrest is towards the south or east side of the bedroom (i.e. the bed is to be positioned in such a way that we rest our head either towards the east or towards south while sleeping.) There is reasoning to this principle as well: While waking up from bed in the morning, it is always good to turn towards our right side and sit up on the bed. As we do this it’s important to face towards the major energy source of Earth viz., Sun (Rising in the East) or the major group of stars ‘Saptharishis’ (Rising in the North). Thus, in order to face East or North after waking up to the right side, we should rest our head to south or east respectively. Hence, the bed in a room should be positioned in such a way that the headrest is to the East or Southside.
Office or study tables in a bedroom should be positioned in such a way that we sit facing towards North or East while working or studying inside the bedroom.

Wardrobes inside a bedroom can be positioned along any of the four walls of a bedroom and Vasthu states no particular rule for the same. However, if storage is specifically built to store valuables (Lockers) in a bedroom, such storage should be positioned along the southern or western wall of the bedroom as per Vasthu.
