Do-It-Yourself tasks are slowly becoming the norm with smaller, inexpensive home décor needs. We have to admit they give you loads of choice as compared to the generic patterns you might have to pick from at the store. As for memo boards, they are hard to find, and often too expensive not to forget rather plain. We’ve come up with some quirky ones that you can make on your own! Try our DIY bulletin boards and liven up your home in your own unique way.

What you need: thick cardboard, wooden frame, fabric pieces and glue
Steps:

1. Pick a frame, preferably a plain white one. Remove the glass from it. You can pick any size, a larger one works best.
2. Measure out and cut the cardboard sheet to the size of the inner side of the frame.
3. Now cut this cardboard piece into four or six pieces depending on the size of your bulletin board.
4. Cut different printed fabrics, preferably in the same colour scheme to an inch or two larger than each of these cardboard pieces.
5. Now cover the cardboard pieces with fabric and glue the excess bits to the back.
6. Place the cardboard pieces on the frame. You could use glue to affix them to the base or use drawing pins at all four edges for the same purpose.

DIY Chalkboard
What you need: old frame, glue, black chart paper or black paint and an old board
Steps:
1. Remove the glass from the old frame. Stick to a wall-mounted one as this makes writing and erasing easier.
2. Cover a thick board with black paint and glue it to the back of the frame.
3. Alternatively, you can make the job simpler by cutting a black chart paper to size and inserting it into the frame.
4. You can now use this as a chalkboard to write grocery lists and messages to your family. Use coloured chalk for best results.

Dry/Erase Memo Board
What you need: Printed/ plain fabric, glue, picture frame, paint and anything else you would like to decorate it with.
Steps:
1. Retain the glass part of the frame for this one.
2. Remove the cardboard of the picture frame. Measure out the printed fabric and cut a piece a few inches larger than the board.
3. Cover the board with the fabric and paste the folds behind. Insert the cardboard back into the frame.
4. You can also paint the frame to contrast with the fabric colour and use ribbons or flowers to decorate the frame.
5. The glass can now be used to write with an erasable marker. Place this memo board on a desk or a kitchen shelf for easy jotting down.
